Since 2017, The Child Abuse Council has hosted the Blue Ribbon: No Excuse for Abuse 5K in April to bring awareness to the thousands of children abused each year in our county, state, and nationwide. Two years ago, we had to take a different direction with this event due to multiple factors and were unable to hold it in person during our normal Child Abuse Prevention Month Festivities. That is why (with inspiration from other races), we decided to present the Blue Ribbon: No Excuse for Abuse 5K as a Virtual Race. So far, presenting the Blue Ribbon as a Virtual Race has been well received because it allows the freedom for everyone to still be able to participate at their own comfort level and flexibility to do it on their own time. We’ve even received support from areas across the state and neighboring states through corporate participation.

All proceeds (approximately $15 from each registration) will go directly to the Child Abuse Council to help us keep our services free of charge to all of those who desperately need them. The Child Abuse Council serves over 20,000 kids every year through our three programs: Prevention through Education, Children’s Advocacy Center, and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). Children often come to us in the most horrible times in their lives. We cannot thank you enough for supporting us as we help them Every Step of the Way.
