Comstock Energy Run Race Description

www.ComstockEnergy.5K.run

Creating life-giving energy for a family battling the devastating effects of Mitochondrial Disease.

Event Distance

5K with 1-Mile Supporter Option

Events

Timed: Mens & Ladies 5K, Family 5K

Untimed:  Supporter Mile

 Purpose

The Comstock Energy Run is a 5K run/walk with a mission of encouraging and supporting Nathan Martin and his family as they battle mitochondrial disease, which causes the cells in Nathan's body to not have enough energy to support his body's needs.

Nathan is 20 years old and is currently receiving palliative care. We would like to cheer Nathan on during this difficult time as well as help provide for his financial needs.

All run proceeds will go directly to the Martin family, and as such the contributions are not tax deductible.

Course Description

The route (click to view) can be accessed through the RunGo app.

The route will allow every participant to run by the Martin family and cheer for Nathan as you go by, even as he cheers for you! It is a very flat course utilizing the Kalamazoo Valley Trail, the sidewalk along M-96, one block of 35th Street, and the Shadowlane neighborhood.

Award Information

Winners will be announced on the website. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be no opening or closing ceremonies. No medals will be awarded.

Starting line

Comstock's Fleetwood Park
Shadowlane Ave
Galesburg, MI 49053

IMPORTANT Safety Requirements for Participation
  • Participants must wear masks covering their nose and mouth at all times while in Fleetwood Park. Participants may ONLY remove masks while running/walking after exiting the park as needed for your personal breathing/health while exercising. Masks will be available if needed.

  • No spectators will be allowed in Fleetwood Park other than one parent of a minor participant.

  • No spectators may stop/gather along the Kalamazoo River Valley Trail. If spectators do not abide by this rule, we run the risk of the entire race being shut down.
  • Participants must complete COVID screening questions upon registration and agree to update those questions if the answers change between registration and race day. Participants will also be screened, including a temperature check, at registration. Participants must agree to not attend or edit registration to Remote Runner option if any symptoms are present within 14 days of the race.
Packet Pick-up

Participants may not arrive at the park more than 30 minutes prior to your start time to pick up your bib and packet as we must abide by the current executive order and carefully monitor the number of people at each event. Masks are required as well as a COVID screening and temperature check.
