The 47th annual Racine Lighthouse Run beckons, a swashbucklin' adventure where sweat meets scenery and every stride whispers a salty saga. This ain't your average jog, mateys, it's a voyage of personal conquest, breathtaking shores, and tales the lake weaves on the breeze.
Each year, a new lighthouse emerges from the Lake Michigan mist, guiding your course and painting the past alive. These sentinels of stone aren't just landmarks, they're portals to bygone eras, where salty dogs once braved treacherous waters.
2024: Big Red, Guardian of the Harbor, paints your path crimson. Conquer each wave-kissed finish line, and add a notch to your crow's nest with a gleaming medal – your first chapter etched in victory.
2025: Harbor Light welcomes you at the crossroads of land and sea. This medal whispers of your growing bond with Racine, a city with a heart as vast and deep as the lake itself.
2026: Reef Lighthouse, the sentinel of the waves, awaits your bravest stride. Conquer its crashing embrace, and wear your medal like a pirate's treasure – a badge of courage etched in brine.
2027: Raise the Jolly Roger! Breakwater marks the triumphant finale! Four lighthouses conquered, four medals earned, your spirit and love for the sea etched in your legend.
2028: Mark your calendars, landlubbers! The mighty Wind Point Lighthouse shines anew for our 50th anniversary! This ain't just a prize, it's a golden doubloon commemorating your commitment, your stamina, and your place in a 50-year legacy.
Join the odyssey. Collect the light. Forge your legend. The Racine Lighthouse Run is more than a race; it's a luminous voyage of self-discovery, camaraderie, and a connection to the sea that runs deeper than the Marianas Trench.

New to running? DOWNLOAD our ZERO to 5K program - Many newcomers to running become discouraged by the difficulty associated with the activity because they start too fast and push too hard. Their bodies rebel and they wind up miserable, wondering why anyone would possibly want to run in the first place. The Zero to 5K program has been specifically designed to instill a love of running and ends with participating in your first timed 5K.
We’re here to help you achieve your goal(s), be it your first 5K, improving your run, or simply offering a resource where you can run with a group that is designed to help each other stay motivated. You should ease into your 5K training plan gradually. The program we provide is less of a running regimen than a walking and jogging program. The idea is to transform you from a non-runner, getting you to begin running a 5K ( or 3.1 miles) regularly in just 4 weeks.
It’s easy to get impatient, and you may feel tempted to skip ahead in the program but hold yourself back. Don’t try to do more, even if you feel you can. If, on the other hand, you find the program too strenuous, just stretch it out. Don’t feel pressured to continue faster than you’re able. Repeat weeks if needed and move ahead only when you feel you’re ready.

Racine LightHouse
The theme of my review is that the Start/Finish Line was too narrow which was a result of the course being too narrow. As a veteran of 8 previous Lighthouse Runs, I don't like the new course at all. It was hard to pass people without running in the grass or in the way of oncoming runners. One large person was walking with hands on hips, elbows out which blocked the entire course. I miss the people on the street cheering the runners on, having sprinklers going and playing upbeat music. Okay Fun Run course, not a competitive course as in past years. The turnaround for the 4 Mile event was not well marked, I know someone, who was really competitive that missed it and ran enough 1/2 mile. I almost missed it but heard someone else complaining about it so I asked the workers if this was the turnaround. The 4 Mile course was 4.2 miles. Low odds I will run it in 2024 if the course is unchanged.
Not fun. Needs improvement
Live music at the finish was a buzzkill and did not fit the scene. Tried to get away and find somewhere shady to hang out but no luck. Not a big crowd but bar staff seemed unprepared for the free beer line. Stood in the sun for approx. 30 min to receive beer. The course sounded fun, but there was a lot less lakeshore view and more long straight boring stretches away from it. Event staff at water stations were the best and very friendly. Energy/Gel at any station for the 10 mile run would have been appreciated. Passing on this run in future.
Runner
Thanks to the restaurant for allowing use of the bathrooms instead of porta potties! The course change was nice and easy to navigate. Tips for the organization: 1.) please offer Gatorade along the course. 2.) a separate line for nonalcoholic beverages would have been nice for those who don’t drink alcohol.
Love the new route
My group thought the new route was great, a bit challenging (in a good way), and really showed off the beauty of the Racine lakefront. I like that we were routed on paths that were not near traffic. My only call out is that runners had to try to avoid walkers on the way back and that caused a few dangerous situations. Other than that, it was a fun morning, thank you!
4 mile competition
I found the race to be competitive, fun, and enjoyable. Very nice people, and all have a health is your wealth attitude. Everyone helped out from the organizers to the cheer people and water people along the race. Giving everyone an enjoyable memory and desire to keep going to better their time and health! Thank You very much!! Hope to do it again soon!

Good run!
Great run, nice views. One downside is the race course was generally narrow with a there/back format, and not closed to bikes. the path was narrow, and people casually riding bikes on the sidewalks of the course where it was very narrow created a significant hazard, enough where I will reconsider doing it again without any changes after watching a runner get cut off by a woman on a bike in the middle of the crowd resulting in an ugly fall. Also had some folks in the fun run/walk walking their dogs and not really paying attention to how much of the pathways they were taking up. You can't force people to do the right thing, but maybe more support staff/race officials patrolling and nipping these issues in the bud would make it safer.
Lighthouse Run
Had a wonderful time for my 1st time running this race. Drove up from Long Grove Illinois as I enjoy the 10 mile races. Hope to be back next year.
