Oak Creek Turkey Trot 5K Race Description


Oak Creek - Racine - Milwaukee - Kenosha Turkey trot



9:00 AM Start, Lake Vista Park - 4001 E Lakeside Ave, Oak Creek, WI 53154


This event is relocating to Lake Vista Park in Oak Creek, Just north of Racine and South of Milwaukee. Our former location in Racine has been compromised due to erosion which has caused the trail to be closed.  Due to the pandemic face masks will be provided to all participants. You will be required to wear at the start and finish only. Sign up early, as we will be capping the number of persons allowed to participate. But don't worry, as with all our races our "Remote Runners" option is always unlimited.

LONG SLEEVE TEES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE IN UNISEX SIZES ONLY - RAIN, SNOW or SHINE we Run or Walk at the Southeast Wisconsin  Turkey Trot. 

The 5K race will be chip timed (CHIP START to allow for social distancing). All participants will receive a finisher's medal, cool race bib and T-shirt. SEE BELOW for our COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOL.

5Kevents community encourages participants to donate food and necessities to to be distributed to local food pantries in Oak Creek. Our goal is to equalize distribution of resources through the community and to serve as an advocate on behalf of the community in reducing hunger.

Course description:

Lake Vista Park provides visitors a beautiful new location for the annual Turkey Trot. 

  • Panoramic views of Lake Michigan will be treated to many ideal vantage points to take it in. The picturesque beacon at the northeast corner of the park, boasts an overlook and seating area, and is a great spot for photos.
  • Enjoy the beautiful trails throughout the park, an ADA compliant path ensures that everyone will be able to enjoy the gorgeous view.

Awards info: 

All participants will receive a custom finisher's medal. Top three male and female will be recognized as well as the top 3 male and female in respective 5 year age groups.

  • 9 and under
  • 5 year age categories (starting at 10yrs old on up)
Top 3 Male and Female OVERALL Runners will receive: 
  • 1st Place:   Gift Card
  • 2nd Place:  Gift Card
  • 3rd Place:   Gift Card
We will not be holding an awards ceremony after the race. This is so everyone can get back home to celebrate their traditions.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT! with our REMOTE RUNNERS® Program! All Remote Runners® receive a finisher's Medal, Race Bib & T-Shirt.  You can run as group or as an individual, and you can run ANYWHERE at ANYTIME. You can walk around your neighborhood, trail or track. You can use the treadmill at your house or gym. You can run outdoors or participate in another event. You can run/walk your race at your whenever you like...wherever you like. Just register as a Remote Runner.

REMOTE RUNNER PACKETS will be mailed out 1 week before the event date of 11.26.2020

Pre-Race Packet Pick up is Tuesday 11.24.20 at 2:00 pm to 7:30 pm.

Registration info:

All early, general and late registration categories receive a finisher medal, Tee-Shirt and cool race bib. 5K participants will be provided a chip timed race. You will have the option to select a regular tee, v-neck or unisex long sleeve during the registration process.




FACE MASKS ARE MANDATORY AT THIS EVENT. You must wear a face mask before and after the run/walk. We will provide you a reusable mask. You may remove them while running at your discretion as long as you are not in a crowded area. 10 Minutes prior to the start of the race you are asked to assemble near an orange traffic cone in the staging area. Each coned area should consist of groups of 10 or less participants. Each group will be released every 15 seconds to limit overcrowding on the trail. Slower run/walkers/strollers should stage near the rear.


AWARDS. To limit person to person contact, your finisher's Medal will be included in your race packet prior to the race. If you win your division, you may request your recognition pin be mailed to you (a $3.50 fee will apply), pick up at the next race, or pick up at our office in Racine. The top 3 male/female OVERALL runners will be mailed gift certificates automatically. Final results will be available about 11:30 am. You can view results LIVE at www.5Kevents.org and click on the race results tab. Remember this is a chip start, so a person's finishing order via Gun Start will not be the same as Chip Start. The race clock will represent the official Race start time but not your actual finish time. If your final time, gender, bib# or other data is incorrect on the final results, please notify the race director using our online correction form. PLEASE, Do not interrupt the timing crew during the event.

You may submit corrections at: https://5kevents.org/result_correction.html. While results will be immediately posted online at www.5Kevents.org, results will not be official for 48 Hours. This will allow us to make corrections, but also time for our staff to enjoy the Thanksgiving Holiday as well.


RACE BIBS / TIMING: We utilize a shoe tag system. You must wear your shoe tags and race bib in order to be timed. Those who do not wear them, or wear them improperly will be disqualified and asked to leave the course as we will not know if you are included in the race (this is for insurance purposes). Pull tabs will not be utilized to limit person to person contact. See image below for proper wearing.  Tie one on the left shoe, one on the right. No tags, no time. Race bibs must be worn and visible at all times. Wear bibs front facing.

OPTION 1: You will be able to pick up your race packet on Tuesday November 24th, 2020 between 2pm and 7:30pm at the 5Kevents.org Resource Center, 215 6th Street, Racine WI 53403.


OPTION 2: REMOTE RUNNERS® (aka Virtual Runners). You will have your packets shipped to you via USPS. Make sure to post your times on the event website. Go to the "Manage My Registration" tab at www.TurkeyTrot.5K.run and the click the icon that says "Submit Results"


OPTION 3:  Pick up your packets at the event in the Lake Vista Pavilion. 




  • 7:30 - 8:45 A.M. - Packet Pick Up (Inside the Lake Vista Pavilion)

  • 9:00 - 9:15 A.M. - 5K (Chip Start - groups of 10, 15 seconds apart. We will continue wave until everyone has dispersed)

  • There will be no awards ceremony. This allows people to get back to their traditional family gatherings.
