We came to see our 13 year old grand daughter run and she didn't disappoint. The initial results she finished 10th overall, 2nd overall for women and 1st for girls in her age bracket. While she was acknowledged for her 2nd place finish for women she was not mentioned, nor did she receive a medal for her 1st place finish in her age group. Pretty bad given this is all supposedly done electronically and it took well over an hour to compile the results. She also didn't receive a t-shirt as they ran out after the first 30 or so participants. I recall the race organizer mention a cash prize for the top 3 runners male and female. Maybe they handed that out after we left but certainly not when the racers were called initially for their medals (by the way they didn't have the medals to pass out and will be mailed). If you're going to organize an event do it right or don't do it. Maybe it's not important to adults to receive the appropriate recognition but it's a pretty big deal for a 13 year old. Fortunately our grand daughter is an exception and took it in stride. She knows how well she did and the people important to her recognized her accomplishment.
I loved the race and band and food after the race. However, the steep hill with loose gravel to run up halfway through the race was tough. I'd love it more if the course was changed.
Not a PR course but great views and fun to run. Big hill in the middle and several 180 turns make it a bit challenging. Organization is great and bacon and brew makes it worth attending!
