I have participated in this challenge for the past several years. Each year, even if I don't post much, I enjoy the motivation it provides and watching others complete their miles and how they challenge themselves. I highly recommend joining us, getting out, and moving during the holiday season.

Great! Easy way to stay motivated
This is an amazing way to stay healthy and motivated during the Holiday Season
Needs separate categories for bike, run, swim...plus a way to put in previous day totals the next day
The instructions are not clear at all as to what to expect from this challenge. It is very hard to keep up with and also hard to navigate how to track your progress. I’m not sure if I’m doing anything right or if anything has been recorded that I think I put in under myself and my daughter. It’s a virtual mess! Very disappointed and NO desire to continue...
It was the motivation I needed to keep moving EVERYday from Thanksgiving to tomorrow, New Years Day. 1 more day, 1 more mile.
Enjoyed the new format, once I figured it out! Liked the FB page and stories submitted.
I look forward to this race every year, my dogs and I always do this race to get warmed up for the year
I love this race ! Perfect time of year and just a mile a day is perfect and doable for me and if I’m feeling sassy I do a couple miles a day!! Love it a fun race!!
My hubby and I challenged ourselves and each other. This is the 1st time ever I am not starting the new year on a diet to lose the weight I gained during the holidays.
If possible would like to see a Strava group set up for this. It would be easier to log miles and less likely to forget. I realize the challenge is not everyone is on Strava.
Loved the feasibility in entering your miles. Excellent way to keep me motivated. There were several days that I got home and realized I hadn't ran a mile. I immediately jumped on the treadmill. Loved loved loved this!!
The Good: The holiday mile is really awesome for people that are needing a little push to get out and get a workout in. Although the idea is to get a mile in, the program is great for those looking to get in some serious mileage. For me, the hardest thing about getting a workout in is getting out the door. During the holiday mile, I may have dreaded going out to walk in the cold, but I did it anyways. I dont think I've been this active since college, and I attribute my activity the past month to the holiday mile. Areas of Improvement: Easier way of submitting miles. Weighting biking, running, swimming, etc differently and perhaps doing a point system for ranking rather than miles based.
Logging miles was more challenging this year, because of not being able to edit the date. I just didn't get to the site every day. But it's a great challenge to keep me moving throughout the holiday season. Thanks.
Good motivator
Good method for managing weight over the holidays. Enjoyed postings on Facebook and abiloty to track my progress against all participants. Encouraged me to set personal benchmarks (top quartile), and work harder to get there, and stay there.
I enjoyed this virtual race. I loved the challenges and motivation from the other players. In the future I would like to see the option to be able to report missed dates and not have it appear as a double entry for the day.
Love the medal and the weekly challenges. The Holiday Mile was a great way to keep moving thru December! Will need to set a reminder to keep posting tho!
It was so much fun to have motivation for my daily walks & to be walking with a virtual team during the isolation of 2020. Will definitely be doing it again next year!
Loved this challenge, just wish there was a different way to post ,log miles besides social media
When I first found this race 5+ years ago I signed up as a fluke, thinking this would 'keep me active during the holidays. It has done that and more. I enjoy this virtual race and look forward to it every year. I even informed the Wellness Coordinator's at my job about it and it has been a part of our Wellness program for the past several years. I know that setting up any race can be a challenge, even setting up a virtual race, so I commend and thank the organizers of this annual race. I look forward to 2021's Holiday Mile.
I really enjoyed doing this event! It kept me active for the entire period. Thanks so much for setting this up!
This challenge is always fun since it gives you the opportunity to stay healthy and keep moving throughout the entire duration of the challenge period.
Great way to do 'your own thing' and to stay active.
This challenge is so much fun! I posted it on my Facebook page and 20 of my friends joined in. It was a great motivator for all of us. We held each other accountable for exercising - even with the horrible weather. I finished the challenge with a 13.2 mile run on New Year's day. It was a wonderful way to keep healthy during the holidays
I joined this challenge to keep me motivated. I want an external push. I enjoyed the challenge and completed it successfully. My only complaint is that I could not enter a result for a previous day. If , for whatever reason, I could not go back. I could either add the amount to the current day or lose those efforts. I chose the cumulative method.
I love this challenge! It really forces me to start my resolution to not gain too much "holiday weight" at the correct time of the year-before it gets out of hand. So, when the new year begins, I'm actually several weeks into the race to a better me....thanks for this opportunity!
It would have been nice to go back and log days I missed like previous years. Instead, I just put them all on one day. Otherwise, everything was great.
My husband and I signed up to do this challenge together to stay active throughout the holidays. It was a great way to connect with each other and have an “in-house” reminder of “did you get your mile in?” We love the motivation for this challenge and love seeing that people make it what they want it to be...many miles biked or run or just keeping up each day. Thank you for offering this event!
This was a fun way to keep yourself in check and still feel like you have a sense of community running with a group while being distanced. The website was extremely user friendly
We wanted to do this to maintain fitness over the holiday period. It worked. We both feel great and have more energy. We both walked over 150 miles and are still amazed what a small committment each day can produce.
The time between Thanksgiving and New Years Day is busy and somewhat stressful. Exercise often gets neglected as the temperatures drop and the days get shorter. The Holiday Mile Challenge was what I needed to get me moving. Rather than slide into the end of the year with the great intention of getting back to an exercise routine at the beginning of the new year, I’ve successfully begun a daily routine and have 40 days under my belt due to the Holiday Mile. 2023 is off to a great start, and more miles to come as I continue walking daily throughout the year. The challenge, motivation, accountability, and encouragement of the Holiday Mile is appreciated during a busy time of year and a great jumpstart to the new year!
Walked my mile💫🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼✅ The HM means so much to me 🫶🏻every year it keeps me in shape 🥰(mentally and physically) The timing of the virtual HM ( thanksgiving , Christmas , into the New Year)keeps me active and reminds me to take this important time for myself and to get out into the fresh air and enjoy life ! Thank you Holiday Mile for Everything I had a blast again this year and look forward to 2023 ❤️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️ #holidaymile #5kevents
This challenge inspired me to get out and pound the pavement during the busy holiday season. I’m grateful for the support and motivation from the group.
I really enjoy this holiday mile because it keeps me in track during the holidays. It's "run" very well. Thank you to all the staff who are in charge of setting it up every year. I look forward to next year.
This was my first year participating and it was an awesome experience. I have been making an effort to exercise more. Holiday Mike was exactly the motivation I needed to stay active. I’m happy to say that not only did I not gain any weight this year, I lost a few pounds. Love it!
I really look forward to the Holiday Mile. The first couple of years, I walked the mile and appreciated the challenge of getting out daily during the holiday season. But last year, I chose to turn my daily Holiday Mile into a daily 5k. I really loved it, especially since we were having a very mild winter in my area in Nov./Dec. And then after the HM ended...welp, inspired by the whole HM experience, I just kept on going for the ENTIRE YEAR. I called it my #5keveryday project and my mantra was #consistency. A few days were logged on the treadmill due to weather, but most were outside on the Millennium Trail. It was good for my physical and mental health. And at 74, it kept my old joints from getting too creaky and rusty. I finished Dec. 31, 2022 with a total of having walked or jogged 1,260 miles from Jan. 1-Dec. 31, 2022. And starting Jan. 1, 2023, I am repeating that effort again. The facebook page was fun and wonderful for sharing our experiences and for the support and encouragement found there. Thanks again for offering this event, and especially for the inspiration to get out there and walk. See you all next November!
I had so much fun logging my workouts every day and seeing how my fellow participants were doing. It got competitive and pushed me to do a lot more than I probably would have without this challenge. I’m looking forward to doing it again next year!
I love this race because I love a challenge. Even though I regularly workout I do not count those workouts. I have to make a conscious effort to go for a walk or bike ride for me to count it toward this challenge. This resulted in me taking walks with friends, walking the dog a little extra or going for a quick walk before sitting to watch TV or go on the computer at night. Even though it is totally up to me I felt held accountable and motivated by the logging of results and the FB posts of others. It has helped create a healthy habit and I love it! I also love how the organizers challenge us with a "give back" challenge each week. Taking time to think of others while taking care of yourself as well! What is there not to love about this race! I will definitely be back again and continue to refer people to it. Thank you organizers and fellow racers!
Happy New Year🌞 I truly enjoyed the Holiday Mile Race 2022. The “Holiday” theme falls right into place as my favorite time of the year and I found inspiration and excitement to finish this race while “Tis the Season to Indulge”. The website and daily submittals were easy too. Thank you for helping inspire me to be health conscious through the Holiday Season🎄👏🏻🥂 Looking forward to the next race🌞 Sincerely, Cynthia Binnall Cbinnall1@pbcgov.org
