Dash for Down Syndrome - GiGiFIT Acceptance Challenge Race Description

Run, Walk, or Dash with us!  
We, the people of the Down syndrome community, are challenging YOU to move for acceptance – to prove that every person should be accepted for who they are. We live in a world that is often separated based on differences. It is time for people to come together regardless of race, gender, diagnosis, sexual orientation, or religion. We need universal ACCEPTANCE for all people.

Day of Event

  • 8:00 am Open Onsite Registration & Packet pick-up
  • 8:30 am GiGiFIT program sample & Warm-ups  
  • 9:00 am Dash for Acceptance (all participants & siblings)
  • 9:15 am 5K Timed Run 
  • 9:20 am 1-Mile Inspirational Walk 
  • 10:00 am Awards, Raffles & Pie-in-the-face
  • Followed by post-race party and family activities.
  • Please keep dogs at home.
  • No bicycles.
  • Parking at Lake Park Bistro or street parking is available.

Event Details

  • 5K Timed Run
    • Includes event T-shirt when registered by April 14 at 11.59 pm.
    • $35 per person ($40 on the day of the event, May 5).
  • ​1 Mile Walk
    • Includes event T-shirt when registered by April 14 at 11.59 pm.
    • $25 per person ($40 on the day of the event, May 5). 
  • ​FREE Dash for Acceptance (for participants and siblings)
    • Doesn't include an event T-shirt.
  • ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES May 2 at 11.59 P.M. (midnight)
  • IN-PERSON REGISTRATION OPENS May 5 at 8.00 A.M. at Lake Park
  • Day of event registration is possible; however, T-shirts are not guaranteed.

Team Incentives and Awards

  • For each person that joins your team, the team champion will get one raffle entry into the photo wall drawing (12 chances to win) 
  • Teams created by 3/10 will receive an event yard sign! Pick-up signs at the Down Syndrome Day Party at GiGi’s 12:00-2:00 pm on March 10 
  • The top 5 fundraising team champions will have a photo on the picture wall at GiGi’s. 
  • Awards for the top fundraising teams and the biggest team.
  • Pie in the face opportunities when total event donations reach the following levels: $30,000, $40,000, $50,000, $60,000, or MORE!

Medal Categories 

  • Race finishing times will be available thanks to Silver Circle Events 
  • Awards will be given to first overall male and female finishers. 
  • Awards also will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place for the following age groups: 0-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ 
  • Participants in the Participant' Dash will receive a finisher's medal (in-person event only).
